Could you make a valuable contribution to planning the next steps of our Borough wide approach to literacy?

We think
YOU COULD!

You are invited to send representatives to our event to celebrate and review Rochdale’s approach to literacy

Friday 12th December
10 – 4
Rochdale Town Hall

Literacy changes lives

We believe that literacy is an entitlement for all. 2008 is the national year of reading and many exciting things have been happening across the borough to get people reading.

We will be celebrating the success of local initiatives that have helped people overcome barriers to literacy on Friday 12 December, 10am – 4pm at Rochdale Town Hall. Local people, representing our diverse community will share experiences of how their lives and the lives of their families have changed since they have all learnt to appreciate the importance of reading and the enjoyment it can bring.

The conference will look to how Rochdale Borough can continue to support literacy and rise to the challenges of the future. It is aimed at anyone who is involved in local work to promote literacy or anyone who is interested in how services can support people to reduce barriers to reading.

We are a Limited Company and a Charitable Trust whose aim is to advance education through encouragement, identification, discussion and celebration of best practice. We aim to enable educational professionals to network on shared activities including courses, school action based research, curriculum development projects and disseminating good practice.

The REAL Trust has gone from strength to strength. We are offering a fantastic variety of professional development opportunties through the website. You can access all the REAL Trust opportunities free to all staff for year, all for the price of your annual subscription. This year we are also offering the opportunity to tailor make a course especially for your school. You can join a collaborative group of 4 or 5 schools, all working on the same issues, and your provider can be chosen by you and paid for by the REAL Trust!!!

The new website also enables you to share your good practice easily. Every school has its own page on the website. Here you can publish children's work, publish good OFSTED reports, Leading Aspect Awards, ideas, thoughts about courses attended, even practice that simply works for you can be shared through this totally up to date Treasury.

Coordinators can book people onto courses easily, or contact us if they would like help with CPD planning and customised courses. The team is waiting to help you. Enjoy!!!
