Brilliance in Your Curriculum
- A half day course for primary leaders to evaluate the effectiveness of your school curriculum to inform future school curriculum improvement.
During the course, you will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of your whole school curriculum by
- following an ECM process and structure which enables you to devise and review an effective curriculum for your school from Year 1 to Year 6;
- considering if the impact of the National Curriculum on the quality of teaching, engagement of pupils and raising pupil progress is effective;
- providing an opportunity to explore a vision for the curriculum relevant to your pupils;
- evaluating established practice that is working well already and to identify any gaps and areas to improve within your current curriculum;
- engaging and exploring case studies of outstanding curricula, teaching and learning and working thematically; and
- exploring how social, moral, spiritual and cultural (SMSC) and British Values is an integral feature of your curriculum.
At the end of the course you will have identified further whole school, subject, individual training requirements to inform future curriculum developments through an evaluative process.

Steve Williams (ECM Consultant)
Before joining ECM, Steve has been the Head teacher of two very successful schools. Ofsted described him as an inspirational and outstanding leader of both learning and people. He is a proven to have the drive and vision to spread outstanding practice and instigate new ways of working; establishing new strategic partnerships and relationships to rapidly and consistently raise achievement and school improvement across a network of schools/academies and education services. Steve led his last school on its conversion to an Academy.
Steve has been a Local Leader of Education (LLE) for Cheshire West and Chester and a National Leader of Education (NLE) following the successful designation as a Teaching School and National Support School. In this role he was seconded as Acting Head teacher to schools that were in challenging circumstances, working with school leaders and governors and supporting them on their journey to good or better. He is often invited to speak at both local and national level about the impact of his values and work on improving outcomes for schools. He is acutely aware of what the skills are to be an effective leader and a great teacher.

By Road: The Rochdale campus is 2.6 miles from junction 20 off the M62. Follow the signs for Rochdale town centre
By Rail: Rochdale train station is a ten minute walk from the Rochdale Campus through the town centre. It is also a Metrolink station, Manchester’s light railway system, which links Rochdale with Oldham, Bury and Manchester City Centre.
By Bus: The Rochdale bus station is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the Rochdale campus. There are frequent bus services throughout the borough which terminate in Rochdale.
