Raising Early Achievement in Maths (REAM) - CANCELLED

  • Training for the 'Making it REAL' approach to early Maths
  • For Foundation Stage leaders, teachers and teaching assistants

REAM is a half-day training course for practitioners, F.S leaders and teachers in early years who would like to apply the 'Making it REAL' approach to early Maths.  The ‘Making it REAL’ training and projects are designed to enable practitioners to use the ‘REAL’ approach to reach out to parents and families. ‘REAL’ uses an evidence-based approach to build parents’ confidence and knowledge to support the early home learning environment. This approach has been shown to have a powerful impact on children's outcomes and on family maths practice. This project focuses on using the ORIM framework (the 4 main ways families can participate in helping their child to learn and develop). All parents can provide Opportunities for play and learning, Recognise those skills their children are displaying, Interact and Model skills to their child.

Participants are expected to deliver 2 Maths events for all parents and identify 3-5 families who you think will benefit from this project. These 3 - 5 families must have a total of 2 maths home visits (per family) before July 2018.

There will be a follow up 2 hour network in the Summer term (Thursday 26th April 1:15 – 3:15 at Basement Training Suite, Hopwood Hall College, Rochdale Campus ).

2 places are available per school.
