Optimum Learning in the Outdoors

  • This session will explore how to we can strive for optimum learning in the outdoors for children in EYFS and KS1

 

We will take a close look at how to achieve inspiring defined outdoor learning areas such as Physical Phonics, Messy Maths, Den Making, Constructing, Investigation, Concoction Corners, Water, Small World and Story Telling and more.

 

It will further explore how to achieve optimum learning the areas through the potential in the provision through planned purposeful play, high quality teaching and learning strategies and how the sensitive role of the adult can support progress in their learning and development. Colleagues will leave feeling inspired and motivated to improve the quality of their outdoor learning environments and see children flourishing in the outdoors.

Anna Lucas - Lucas Training and Consultancy

Anna has specialised in Early Years and Key Stage One as a mother, teacher, consultant and a trainer. She is an independent trainer and consultant working with practitioners nationally and internationally. Specialising in phonics, outdoor play and EYFS – Anna is the founder of a brand new scheme called ‘Tip Top Phonics’

 

Evaluations consistently maintain that Anna provides excellent, people friendly, hands on and engaging training and consultancy which is founded on keen insights into how young children learn and develop. Practical advice and support to move practice has been described as inspiring and achievable. She has an established reputation and had successful experiences in working with management, staff and parents in schools and settings.

By Road: The Rochdale campus is 2.6 miles from junction 20 off the M62. Follow the signs for Rochdale town centre

By Rail: Rochdale train station is a ten minute walk from the Rochdale Campus through the town centre. It is also a Metrolink station, Manchester’s light railway system, which links Rochdale with Oldham, Bury and Manchester City Centre.

By Bus: The Rochdale bus station is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the Rochdale campus. There are frequent bus services throughout the borough which terminate in Rochdale.
