Children's workforce area teams
Area teams were created across the borough in September 2008 to meet the unique combination of needs of each child and family. Each team brings together practitioners from a number of agencies (council, health service, police private and voluntary, statutory) who work with the same children and families to provide a more flexible and personalised service.
Area teams are not teams as we would normally know them and are not line managed by one service or manager. Individuals will continue to be part of their ‘specialist’ team consisting of people with similar roles and responsibilities. Therefore, area team members may not be based in one location but will work with a geographical area within the Rochdale borough.
Rochdale has five area teams:
- Heywood
- Middleton
- Pennines
- Rochdale North
- Rochdale South
Attributes of area teams
By utilising skills, establishing relationships and networking of local resources Area Teams will ensure the best services for families, children and young people within the borough of Rochdale.
Team members may not know each other, or have worked together as a team. However, meeting informally to share professional development needs and coming together for training will enable a better understanding of different roles. Each area team will also have a ‘co-ordinator’ to liaise between agencies and facilitate engagement within teams.
