  • Planning for ‘challenge’ through developing problem solving and reasoning skills – breadth and depth leading to ‘Mastery’
  • Establishing solid, effective teaching routines in primary mathematics raising the bar for learning facts and tables. Ideas for teaching.
  • Effective use of models and images
  • Assessment of children’s calculation skills and preferences – evidencing continuity and progression
  • Implementing the school calculation policy and interpreting the new NC approach to calculation
  • New emphases in curriculum content and transition issues over the next two years.
