Progression in Reading - Year 1/2

  • Based on Talk for Reading by Pie Corbett
  • Talk for Reading is a tried-and-tested whole-school approach that has been developed in high attaining schools, often in challenging areas, and has been shown to raise standards.

The course will introduce a clear and logical sequence for teaching reading at KS2 that moves children towards independence. We will focus on the importance of deepening understanding through developing key reading strategies. This will be based on whole-class modelling and shared reading, as well as effective guided and one-to-one teaching to deepen children’s understanding and engagement.
