Assisting Children to Move for Managers/SENCos (Face to Face)

• Many Rochdale schools have children and young people who require assistance to move or equipment to facilitate personal care or postural management.
• This course will look at relevant Moving and Handling legislation and guidelines relating to safe moving and handling, how these relate to schools and the role of the SENCo/leadership team in supporting and monitoring staff who are undertaking tasks with

The course will include:

- risk assessment and manual handling/personal care plans

- maintaining dignity, privacy and self-esteem

- Rochdale’s paperwork for Individual Health Care Plans

- an overview of the equipment currently used in Rochdale schools

- some practical activities

N.B. This training is not about Positive Handling for CYP with behavioural difficulties
