Fire Warden / Fire Marshal Training for Schools

  • This course is suitable for employees nominated to undertake the role of the Fire Warden or Fire Marshal, including both proactive and reactive functions
  • It will ensure that the employer is fulfilling their obligations under the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order for larger buildings by the empowerment of employees.

The half day session will cover the following areas;

  • The impact of fire
  • Common causes of fire
  • Case studies 'Setting the Scene'
  • An introduction to fire science
  • Hazard spotting and risk reduction
  • Extinguisher identification, selection anduse
  • Hands on fire extinguisher use*

 

The course will then move on to look at;

  • Human behaviour in fire (including case studies)
  • Pro-active and reactive roles of the Fire Warden / Marshal
  • Action in the event of fire
  • How to undertake evacuation drills
  • Escape devices
  • Managing an incident
  • Fire and Rescue Service liaison (what they will want to know on arrival)
  • Unwanted fire signal reduction (false alarms)

    *Delegates can experience real fire extinguishment using our environmentally friendly, bespoke 'safe-fire' training rigs. This will give real confidence in handling and the use of extinguishers.

    Having attended the course delegates will have gained an understanding of all aspects of the role of the Fire Warden / Marshal and should be competent to undertake this role and apply the strategies within their work station, in addition the candidate will be proficient in how and when to use the fire-fighting media provided within the workplace.

By Road: The Rochdale campus is 2.6 miles from junction 20 off the M62. Follow the signs for Rochdale town centre

By Rail: Rochdale train station is a ten minute walk from the Rochdale Campus through the town centre. It is also a Metrolink station, Manchester’s light railway system, which links Rochdale with Oldham, Bury and Manchester City Centre.

By Bus: The Rochdale bus station is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the Rochdale campus. There are frequent bus services throughout the borough which terminate in Rochdale.
