Establishing Primary Modern Foreign Languages for NQTs and RQTs - DATE CHANGED FROM 05.02.21 TO 06.07.21

  • NQTs will reflect on their own experiences so far of teaching Primary Languages and the day can be tailored according to the needs of the NQTs.

Topics to include:

  • Creative language learning – motivating pupils no matter what your level of language. From non-specialist classroom teachers to those with a background in languages

Will Lloyd- PLN Group Manager

Will is a qualified teacher and a non-specialist in primary languages  who spent a year in Spain teaching English and learning Spanish ab initio. He is passionate about striving to ensure all teachers can deliver primary foreign languages and all children have the opportunity to explore and develop their language learning skills .Will loves languages and learning languages and brings this to his role. He is the virtual learning environment developer and designs materials for the non-specialist from the  Click2Teach Schemes to language and pedagogy upskilling. He delivers staff VLE CPD, supports coordinators CPD and our CPD Manager. He works with our in-class team of language teachers and our Language Teacher Manager. Will is the designer of our highly successful mindfulness and yoga resources. 

 

Joanne Hornby - Primary Languages Trainer

Joanne has worked with Janet since atleast 2008 and was for a short period one of the language assistant team in Warrington LA, modelling and delivering French and Spanish in primary schools. She is a primary teacher with a PGCE in MFL and works in one of the PLN network schools two days a week. Joanne is passionate about creative and dynamic language learning for all children. She uses her drama and singing skills to great effect in the primary languages classroom too. Joanne now works one day a week as the project trainer for the North Wales Project and as an in-class trainer for teachers, modelling activities and lessons and working on a one to one basis with teachers. Schools can also request “Super Days” with Joanne exploring primary languages learning with song and drama. Currently Joanne is re-writing our PLN songs and adding backing tracks and is the creator of our annual multi-languages European Day of Languages song. You can follow Joanne on Twitter @joanne_hornby
