Peterloo CPD Event - CANCELLED

  • Our Museum exhibition opening in May 2019 is to commemorate the Peterloo Massacre.

Our Creative Questors will be on hand to introduce you to our new workshop ‘Protest Like Peterloo’, aimed at upper Key Stage 2 pupils. The workshop introduces the concept of protest and how to make your voice heard if you would like to see change both locally, nationally and even internationally. Our workshop uses the museum exhibition and activities to show pupils how to protest, from songs and slogans to producing banners. You can even make your own protest pebble to take home!

We will be displaying the only (and oldest) surviving banner from the day that we have in our collection. Peterloo expert Dr Robert Poole from the University of Central Lancashire will be speaking at our event. Writer of several articles, he is also working on a new book  Peterloo: the English Uprising being published next year.

Find out how to use our exhibition to inspire work around local history, English and citizenship and find out more about our new Key Stage 2 workshop session ‘Your Voice Matters’.
