Assisting Children to Move (Face to Face)
- This course will look at relevant Moving and Handling legislation and guidelines relating to safe moving and handling for staff who are undertaking these tasks with pupils.
- N.B. This training is not about Positive Handling for CYP with behavioural difficulties
Many Rochdale schools have children and young people who require assistance to move or equipment to facilitate personal care, mobility or postural management.
The course will include:
- some practical activities around Manual Handling/care plans
- equipment commonly used in schools and settings in Rochdale
- back care
- controversial techniques
- risk assessment and manual handling/personal care plans
- maintaining dignity, privacy and self-esteem
- Rochdale’s paperwork for Individual Health Care Plans
- Facilitator

By Road: The Rochdale campus is 2.6 miles from junction 20 off the M62. Follow the signs for Rochdale town centre
By Rail: Rochdale train station is a ten minute walk from the Rochdale Campus through the town centre. It is also a Metrolink station, Manchester’s light railway system, which links Rochdale with Oldham, Bury and Manchester City Centre.
By Bus: The Rochdale bus station is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the Rochdale campus. There are frequent bus services throughout the borough which terminate in Rochdale.
