Developing a Motivated Classroom

  • This INSET session can be delivered to both primary and secondary staff.
  • The key question is how can we create an approach in our classrooms and schools which is centred upon sustainable approaches which develop the internal motivation and drive of our students and not relying on endless rewards.

The quest to increase motivation of our students can often be met with short term, superficial strategies which provide a quick boost to our students work ethic, attitude or output.

The key question is how can we create an approach in our classrooms and schools which is centred upon sustainable approaches which develop the internal motivation and drive of our students, not relying on endless rewards, instant gratification or a focus on the outcome rather than the process of learning?

During the session, you will look at:-

  • What makes students motivated?
  • What can we learn from the research?
  • Developing student autonomy
  • Building student aspirations
  • Upskilling students
  • Creating a culture of “being bothered”
  • How motivation can permeate through whole school culture, systems and processes
