By the end of the course you will:
- An overview of the key messages and practices in the New Inspection Framework September 2019.
- Consider the implications for your school of the new Inspection Handbook – conduct a SWOT analysis to identify what’s new, what’s different, what’s next.
- Complete an action plan in readiness for inspection from September 2019
- Consider the latest updates and feedback from pilot schools and how schools can learn from these experiences.
- Leave with a free training power-point for staff on the new framework.

Craig Richardson, ECM Consultant
Craig is currently headteacher at Helsby Hillside Primary School in Cheshire. He also works as an adviser for Cheshire West and Chester and as an associate for ECM education supporting school improvement, headteacher appraisal and training. He has considerable leadership experience as the headteacher of two successful primary schools for over fourteen years. Ofsted recognised that, as headteacher, Craig ‘provides very strong leadership and has a crystal clear vision for the school’s future.’ In school, he constantly seeks to improve the quality of provision and the outcomes for pupils. He also recognises that school should be fun for everyone and his current school motto is ‘Learn, Laugh and Play’ which provides a good focus for pupils and staff.
He has introduced and developed rigorous and effective systems to monitor and evaluate the school’s work, and school improvement planning is sharply focused on the key areas for improvement. Recently, this has seen significant improvements in raising standards in reading, mathematics and EGPS.
Working as an adviser across a range of schools in Cheshire West and Chester has provided Craig with a wide range of experience and the opportunity to support colleagues in improving schools. As a Local Leader of Education (LLE) he also supports colleagues and has worked as an executive headteacher to support a school in challenging circumstances through an Ofsted inspection.
Craig strongly believes that the inspection process supports school improvement and helps bring about better learning and teaching for more children. Craig is also passionate about sport and has led his current school towards the Platinum School Games Award and a nomination for primary school of the year.

By Road: The Rochdale campus is 2.6 miles from junction 20 off the M62. Follow the signs for Rochdale town centre
By Rail: Rochdale train station is a ten minute walk from the Rochdale Campus through the town centre. It is also a Metrolink station, Manchester’s light railway system, which links Rochdale with Oldham, Bury and Manchester City Centre.
By Bus: The Rochdale bus station is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the Rochdale campus. There are frequent bus services throughout the borough which terminate in Rochdale.
