Fiona Fogarty & Claire Taylor, Early Years Teaching & Learning Advisers, Rochdale Borough Council

Fiona Fogarty  (Teaching and Learning Advisor EYFS)

I have taught in Rochdale’s schools since 1983, becoming an Early Years advisor in 2004. I offer training, support and advice on all things EYFS.

I was the EYFS Profile moderation manager for Rochdale and worked as an External LA moderator for the DfE. I continue to promote consistency and accuracy in assessment judgements through networking and sharing good practice.

Prior to joining the LA team, I was a teacher and senior leader in Primary and Middle school, specialising in EAL and play and delivering training on play, Arts, EAL etc.  for Rochdale LA, EAL specialist service and Manchester Met. Uni. More recently I have qualified as an Elklan tutor.

I have a career long commitment to child centred learning, particularly learning through play, and an enduring fascination for children’s thinking and creative expression across the curriculum.

Claire Taylor (Teaching & Learning Adviser Early Years)

I have taught in  schools since 1996 and became an Early Years advisor in 2011. I offer training, support and advice on all areas of the EYFS.

Prior to joining the LA team, I was a teacher and senior leader in a Primary school, specialising in Communication Language and Literacy.  I continued to develop this area of specialism and worked as the ECAT Consultant supporting Rochdale settings to develop their knowledge and skills in Speech, Language and Communication.

I am passionate in providing the best quality learning environment and experiences for our youngest learners, here in Rochdale.
