Helen Underhill, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Northern Care Alliance NHS Group
I am a highly specialist Speech and Language therapist, qualifying from Leeds Beckett University in 2002. I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and I am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
I have worked as a member of the children’s speech and language therapy team in Rochdale and also within the multi-disciplinary team at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in the Cleft Lip and Palate team.
Since September 2020, I have been in the role of the Early Years Advisory speech and language therapist and am commissioned jointly by the NHS (Northern Care Alliance) and Rochdale Local Authority. I provide speech, language and communication training, advice and support to all of the early years workforce across the Rochdale borough. Alongside this I offer speech, language and communication drop in sessions for our families with children aged 0-5 years on a termly basis. I also have a role within the family hubs to promote speech, language and communication within the home learning environment.
