The New Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs has placed greater emphasis on the role of parents in the SEN process.
This one day course examines the new demands and expectations placed on schools to work ever more closely, efficiently and smartly with parents through greater involvement, engagement and structured conversations, and will explore practical and realistic ways in which this can be achieved in your school. How to break down barriers, forge good relationships, deal with difficult situations and run meeting efficiently will all be explored as part of the course.
Please note that lunch will not be provided, therefore delegates are advised to bring their own

Jackie Lloyd, External Consultant, SENse
Jackie Lloyd is a leading educational professional in the field of Special Educational Needs and Disability with over thirty years of experience in mainstream state schools across the North West of England. Her role within the School Improvement Service of a local NW authority, as SEN Advisor and Inclusion Development manager, enabled her to share her SEND expertise with hundreds of inner city primary and secondary schools. For the past three years Jackie has been an independent advisor offering bespoke consultancy, advice and training as well as parental advocacy.

By Road: The Rochdale campus is 2.6 miles from junction 20 off the M62. Follow the signs for Rochdale town centre
By Rail: Rochdale train station is a ten minute walk from the Rochdale Campus through the town centre. It is also a Metrolink station, Manchester’s light railway system, which links Rochdale with Oldham, Bury and Manchester City Centre.
By Bus: The Rochdale bus station is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the Rochdale campus. There are frequent bus services throughout the borough which terminate in Rochdale.
