Governor Training - Special Education Needs and Disability

• This course focuses on the statutory policies in place in England (or Wales) and how these impact on teachers in schools. It examines the roles of teachers and SENCOs in individual settings.
• Governors reflect on their knowledge and understanding of the 4 broad areas of SEND as described in the SEND Cod of Practice 2015 and link that understanding to the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and is focus on making Reasonable Adjustments for st
• Governors will investigate how they can challenge their schools over their provision for SEND students and whether they are meeting expectations for pupils identified as at SEN Support as well as those with Education Health and Care Plans in schools.
• You will also understand how SEND will be investigated by Ofsted and what your responsibilities are according to Teacher Standards regarding provision for SEND pupils in your settings.
