Food Hygiene Awareness
- This half day session is for anyone working with food where it is not their main role, &/or they are not working with a food safety system so is particularly appropriate for school staff, before/after school clubs, nurseries etc.
The aim is to provide participants with information relating to their responsibility to maintain good food hygiene & understand the importance of it when preparing & handling food.
The agenda covers: food hazards/contamination of food/bacterial growth & prevention/temperature control/storage of food/personal hygiene/food pests & cleaning.
The outcomes are: by the end of the session participants will be able to 1. Clarify their responsibilities in relation to preparing & handling food 2. Demonstrate understanding of the importance of hygiene when preparing & handling food.

Following many years in a catering career, Barbara has 25 years experience as a food hygiene trainer, working mainly in the public sector but also freelance, delivering a wide range of food hygiene training.

By Road: The Rochdale campus is 2.6 miles from junction 20 off the M62. Follow the signs for Rochdale town centre
By Rail: Rochdale train station is a ten minute walk from the Rochdale Campus through the town centre. It is also a Metrolink station, Manchester’s light railway system, which links Rochdale with Oldham, Bury and Manchester City Centre.
By Bus: The Rochdale bus station is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the Rochdale campus. There are frequent bus services throughout the borough which terminate in Rochdale.
