Paediatric & Forest School First Aid Training

  • Suitable for Forest Schools, NGB Outdoor Leadership Awards or for School Visit Leaders
  • It has a paediatric element meeting EYFS requirements
  • The new format includes one day online learning the theory followed by one day face to face practical training. This allows a knowledge of theory to be gained prior to practising
  • It also allows the theory session (online) to be done at your own leisure, in a place convenient for you whilst catering for differing learning styles.
  • On request we can issue Outdoor First Aid Qualification

To meet the EYFS statutory framework requirements, settings should have enough staff who have completed a paediatric course to ensure that there is always at least one person on site and one person with a group who may be off-site.

*Refreshments will be provided on the face to face practical session, but you will need to bring your own lunch*

This course is appropriate for anyone who may lead or be a part of a group in an outdoor setting including school trips, adventure activities, and DofE; it also meets the requirements for the majority of NGB outdoor pre-requisites. It meets the requirements of HSE and the Association of First Aiders.

The course content includes:

  • Principles of first aid
  • CPR & Rescue Breathing
  • Unconscious Casualty
  • Control of Bleeding
  • Burns & Scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Muscle, Bone & Joint Injuries
  • Other Conditions
  • Scenarios

The course will be certificated through Active Aid. The course will commence at 9.15am and finish at 4.15pm; active participation and attendance for the whole course is a requirement for successful completion of the training. During the course of the day there will be regular opportunity to practice CPR and recovery position.

There is a large practical element to the training, so please come suitably attired for kneeling and lying on the floor. The day will incorporate an outdoors element, looking at situations and scenarios. It is therefore essential to come equipped with waterproofs, warm clothing and appropriate footwear – you may need to lie down on wet and muddy ground.

Both the theory and the practical sessions are full days. Elearning must be completed prior to attending face-to face.
