Julie Greenwood (PENNINE CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST)
I am an accredited BACP Counsellor and Systemic Family Practitioner. I have over 14 years of experience in bereavement counselling with Pennine Care Foundation Trust. I work at #THRIVE as a CYP Bereavement Counsellor, This service is an early intervention service for children and young people aged up to 19 years who are experiencing emotional health and wellbeing issues. The service is run by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, Youth in Mind and the borough’s leisure provider Link4Life.
I provide specialist grief therapy to children and young people up to 18 years with complex pre and post bereavement/loss issues. I offer one to one sessions either face to face, via telephone or video calls. Grief therapy involves applying an eclectic approach of therapeutic Interventions appropriate to the child's age, stage of development and circumstances. The session involves grief psycho education, building resilience and hope, enhancing communication and talk therapy.
A part of my role as well as therapy is prevention and early intervention. My goal is to educate and empower parent/carers, school professionals, peer groups, and mental health practitioners who interact with a bereaved child. By providing up-to-date, research-based grief knowledge, the training model ensures that the child's support network is well-informed and confident in offering consistent and effective support throughout the child’s grieving process.
