Designated teachers for cared for Children network

  • The Virtual school will be hosting its Summer Designated Teacher Network which includes a bespoke session delivered by our guest speaker, Senior Mental Health Practitioner Stuart Bell.

Stuart will be giving  a unique update and insight into the following areas

  • Individual support available for Rochdale’s Cared for Children  as part of a newly commission service within Rochdale’s Cared for Children’s Team and Children’s Services
  • Anonymised case studies and supporting activities
  • Guidance and advice on activities that can be carried out in schools to support the social, emotional and mental health of cared for children in your school
  • Information and updates on universal services across Rochdale and wider to support children with a wide range of barriers.  

 

The session will conclude with a short session focussing on the new Rochdale ePEP which will launch on the 1st April and will become the only admissible format to submit a PEP and access PP+ funding to the Virtual School.

Christopher Tyler (Virtual Headteacher, RMBC)

Christopher Tyler

Christopher is Virtual Head Teacher of our Virtual School. The school supports our Cared for Children (Looked After Children), previously Cared for and those with a social worker. He’s worked here since 2015, before which he was VHT for Staffordshire. He has worked for the National Strategies’ ‘Narrowing the Gap’ team and led Manchester’s vulnerable and mobile children team. He is a secondary English teacher by training and has worked extensively with marginalised and vulnerable children, including Gypsy Roma Traveller children and as a teacher for the Roberts’ Bros. Super Circus school.
