EYFS Training for teachers and TAs new to EYFS

This session will support practitioners to:

This interactive session will include professional discussion, practical examples, reflection on effective EYFS practice, and opportunities to share experiences and ask questions. Participants will leave with greater confidence, a deeper understanding of the EYFS approach, and practical strategies that can be implemented immediately in their setting.

Emily Humphrey, School Improvement Officer.
I began my career as an EYFS teacher in a Rochdale primary school. I then become a Key Stage One teacher and unit leader, working as part of a senior leadership team, with responsibility for the English curriculum and children with English as an additional language across the school.
On joining the Rochdale School Improvement Team, I was trained to support schools through the national Improving Schools Programme. Since then, I have loved working with school staff from across the LA in the main areas of EYFS and Key Stage One, particularly working with children from ethnic minority groups and those who have English as an additional language.
For over fifteen years, I have delighted in providing a range of training to staff from EYFS settings, primary, secondary and special schools, including the pupil referral unit. The training has been needs led by the schools, but also led by national initiatives to ensure that practice shared is based on the most up to date policy and research. All of my training is underpinned by ensuring that strategies and approaches to raise outcomes in reading, writing and maths are inclusive strategies which allow children to access the curriculum and to develop their independent learning styles.
My passion to ensure that children with SEND, in particularly SLCN, receive the most appropriate support in the classroom has driven me to achieve status as an ELKLAN specialist speech and language teacher. My licence allows me to deliver specialist SLCN training to professionals and parents to support children and young people from the age of three to post sixteen as they develop their speech, language and communication skills. I have a proven record of effectively delivering training in this field with a focus on supporting vulnerable young people and those with identified SEND. I have also trained to, and have facilitated, SEND peer reviews to support schools in evaluating and further developing their SEND provision.
It is a privilege to contribute to Raising Rochdale as a School Improvement Officer. I am devoted to working with Rochdale schools to ensure that our children enjoy their education journey and are given every opportunity to thrive; reaching their academic potential as well as have their individual talents recognised and celebrated.
