Teaching Assistants Development Programme - 4/6 - Scaffolding
- This development programme specifically designed for Teaching Assistants will run throughout the year and consist of 6 sessions. TA’s can attend all or a selection of these sessions.
- Scaffolding is a critical skill for maximising pupil progress.
- This session in the TA Development Programme focuses on the EEF’s recommendations for effective TA deployment.
- Participants will learn how to provide temporary, targeted support that gradually fades as the pupil gains competence.
- We will practice specific scaffolding techniques, including modelling, prompting, and questioning, to foster independent learning.
- We will explore the principles of ‘just right challenge’ and ‘prompt reduction’ in developing greater levels of independence for pupils with developmental delay.
