Outdoor Learning – Stone Age Camp
- Wild food plant & tree identification
- Safe use of hand tools to harvest wood to make spears, bows and arrows
- Making charcoal and natural paints to create your own cave art painting.
This afternoon session will show ways of using the woodland as a natural resource to help children experience first-hand how the wild woods were used by early humans. Skills will include:

- making charcoal and natural paints to create your own cave art painting.
Curriculum links:
- History – Stone ~ Iron Age hunter-gatherer & early farming living, art & culture
- Science – seasonal changes & plant variation
- Design & Technology - managing risk, using tools and resources
This is an outdoor session, so participants will need to wear suitable clothing and footwear
Please note, parking at the Centre is pay & display (£1.20 for 2 – 4 hours)

NatureEd CIC is a Community Interest Company working in an agreement with Rochdale Council and offering a wide range of dynamic environmental education activities from an education base at Hollingworth Lake.
Judy Alderson & Jude Murray are Directors of NatureEd CIC and freelance environmental educators. Judy also works part time as a Countryside Ranger for Rochdale Council and Jude is a sessional instructor with Oldham Outdoor & Environmental Education Service.
These CPD workshops are a chance to share our knowledge of hands-on eco-activities and our expertise as Level 3 Forest School Practitioners.
