SEND and Adaptive Teaching Strategies

What is adaptive teaching and how does it apply to pupils with SEND?
Teachers and TA’s will undoubtedly have thought about this following the current trend and research around adaptive approaches to teaching, not least because of the references in the NPQ SEN and the Early Careers Framework.
This course explores principles of ‘in the moment adaptations’ that may be helpful for pupils with SEND whilst also exploring the continued need to plan a curriculum and lessons that are accessible in the first place.
Teaching strategies that are typically helpful for pupils with SEND to access lessons will be shared to support this aim.
The ongoing debate around differentiation will also be discussed and guidance provided for teaching and learning priorities set by leaders in education settings.

Understanding research around using adaptive teaching and pupils with SEND
Learning how to adapt to meet pupils’ needs
Understand when and how to align teaching strategies to the 4 dimensions of need in the classroom
