Establishing a 'Best-Fit' Approach to Evaluation - CANCELLED

  • This one day primary course will provide clarity around any shifts in focus emerging from recent messages. It will also strengthen your understanding of how the critical ‘best-fit’ element of your judgements is convincingly evidenced and informed.

By the end of the course you will have:

  • details of what is 'hot off the press' from Ofsted September 2017;
  • clarity of the changes to the most recent School Inspection Handbook and any shifts in inspection focus;
  • a greater appreciation of how, where and why the different aspects of the handbook are inter-linked;
  • a clearer understanding of the key tasks involved in coming to judgements about your school;
  • know the critical impact evidence required and where it can be sourced;
  • a better-informed and supported professional judgement to recognise strengths, identify areas for development and acknowledge any evidence yet required;
  • knowledge and skills to establish the 'best’ approach to ‘best-fit’ school evaluation;
  • a head start on focused evidencing of your Teaching, Learning and Assessment. Leadership and Management and Early Years judgements; and
  • a blueprint for future evaluation and strategic development planning

Sarah Quinn (ECM Consultant)

Sarah delivers training and support to schools as an adviser working closely with leadership teams, and teachers to raise the quality of their practice and the outcomes for children. Her training covers a range of areas including inspection preparation, teaching, curriculum, assessment and early years. 

Before joining ECM, Sarah was a full-time senior consultant with a large educational consultancy. 

Sarah was a highly successful primary school teacher and leader, with the last early years maintained provision she led graded as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. 

Sarah previously worked as a managing inspector and for CfBT Inspection Services as the Central Senior Managing Inspector delivering training to inspectors, quality assuring inspection work and performance managing a large team of inspectors. Sarah has extensive experience in the inspection of full primary schools, children’s centres and early years provisions, maintained, independent and registered.

By Road: The Rochdale campus is 2.6 miles from junction 20 off the M62. Follow the signs for Rochdale town centre

By Rail: Rochdale train station is a ten minute walk from the Rochdale Campus through the town centre. It is also a Metrolink station, Manchester’s light railway system, which links Rochdale with Oldham, Bury and Manchester City Centre.

By Bus: The Rochdale bus station is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the Rochdale campus. There are frequent bus services throughout the borough which terminate in Rochdale.
