Explore your role, responsibilities, supervision expectations, and safe practice whilst working alongside a qualified leader or National Governing Body (NGB) holder at school or via an external provider.
Practical discussion around route planning, group management, emergency procedures, equipment, map and compass use and supporting young people in the outdoors.
Focus: Creating predictable, relational and emotionally safe environments.
Goal: Reduce escalation and support regulation through trauma‑informed practice.

This development programme specifically designed for Teaching Assistants will run throughout the year and consist of 6 sessions. TA’s can attend all or a selection of these sessions.
This practical session guides TAs in facilitating effective social skills interventions.
Drawing on evidence-based programs, we will explore how to teach, model, and practice essential social interaction skills—such as turn-taking, reading social cues, and conflict resolution.
TAs will learn how to structure small group sessions and support the generalisation of these skills into the playground and classroom.
We will explore a framework for writing and using effective social stories to help neurodiverse thinkers.
